It has been a while since I have posted and had a showing. Life and all the real events that happen get in the way sometimes.
This last weekend was an absolute delight. My daughter Amira and I participated together in the annual South Sound Studio Tours that takes place in the Olympia, WA area. 25 different studios around town opened themselves for the public to stop by and see behind the scenes. 75 artists showed their works and did demos. This was Amira’s first time showing her acrylic work and the public loved it! She sold 7 paintings, two which were not finished, and the patrons are willing to wait for them! So proud of her and she is very excited and encouraged to create more. Her website is www.ArtandAmira.com The studio permeated the smell of beeswax, and people were having fun learning about the encaustic process. To be honest it was a great weekend. So nice meeting new people, sharing about my work, making some sales. Most of my work is in encaustics, but there were four paintings in pastel. Two of the mountains in North Wales, one of Venice and the last up the Hood Canal in WA state. I think we have decided we will do this again next year. Lovely to have a show with my daughter and feeling the appreciation from the people who came.
