PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release May 20, 2014 Follow the HITS Championship Tour HITS Triple Crown of Show Jumping - Thermal, CA | Ocala, FL | Saugerties, NY HITS Championship - Saugerties, NY | September 3-7, 2014 Gabrielle England’s Releasing Energy Selected as 2014 HITS-on-the-Hudson Official Show Program Cover SAUGERTIES, NY (May 20, 2014) — HITS, Inc. is pleased to announce Gabrielle England’s Releasing Energy has been chosen as the cover art for the 2014 HITS-on-the-Hudson Official Show Program. England is an award-winning artist who is mostly self-taught, though did attend Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. She specializes in creating abstract paintings of horses in oil encaustics, which is beeswax and oil pigment on panels. England’s studio is located at her home in Olympia, Washington, which is nestled amongst picturesque horse farms of the Pacific Northwest. The image for the painting Releasing Energy, which will don the cover of the 2014 HITS-on-the-Hudson Official Show Program, was first seen in England’s mind. “Most times I see the image for the painting in my mind’s eye, and then the fun begins as I try to recreate it in oil encaustics,” she said. “This panting was done layer by layer – I had to work backwards from top layer to bottom, dissecting the painting that I have seen so that I can recreate it.” England also has a special affinity for line drawings. For Releasing Energy, she incorporated an abstract line drawing into the painting, embellishing it with gold, copper and bronze leaf. Then, the rich colors of beeswax helped create motion and energy from the horse. England says that the piece is one of her favorite paintings. Horses have always been England‘s first love, and continue to feed her passion, life vision and creative connection. England is a dressage rider who currently owns two horses, Aston Marvin, an off-the-track Thoroughbred, and Jubilee, a six-year-old Morgan/Oldenburg. England’s 12-year-old daughter Amira is also a dressage rider and a member of the Baywood Pony Club. More of England’s work can be viewed at www.gabrielleengland.com. England is happy to accept commissioned work. The 2014 HITS-on-the-Hudson circuit boasts nine weeks of competition, welcoming riders of all levels, and offers the final qualifying opportunities for the popular HITS Championship in Saugerties, New York September 3-7, 2014 and the Marshall & Sterling Insurance League Finals, September 10-14.
